A New Favorite Color...
"Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool." (Isaiah 1:18) This verse popped into my mind last night as I was leaving Freeland High School after having spent a few hours practicing a spring musical with high school students....always an adventure. It's quite amazing how just a mere scene of creation can bring to account within your mind a verse of Scripture, or an encouraging quote; perhaps you've found that happen to you. When it does come to mind, the experience in observing Creation seems to just magnify the message or truth of the Scripture. So it was with me last night. It was dark outside as I left the building, and the yellow of the streetlights displayed the very large and lazily falling snowflakes coming from the sky. The ground that had been brown and drab was now covered in a blanket of pure white. Everything looked clean, and it had only taken a brief period of time to cover the "old" mess. So, this was the world I walked into, and had a moment to reflect on Isaiah's message of Truth. All of the 'scarlet' and 'crimson' in my life has been miraculously turned into 'white.' Thank you, God, for not just covering my scarlet stain, but removing it altogether, and in turn, replacing it with the 'whiteness of snow' (the righteousness of Christ). Sometimes, I think we all need a new perspective on colors.....
